IBM Institute for Business Value published a “Balancing sustainability and profitability” report, focusing on how companies should act to protect the environment and stay profitable by adapting to the behaviour changes of the consumers. Travel & mobility is one of the top 4 discussed topics that require action.
One of the key findings of the research is that consumers become environmentally conscious. That directly impacts businesses as these purpose-driven consumers expect companies to act in a sustainable way. This goes not only for providing environmentally friendly products but also for how a company is handling internal operations, including business travel.
IBM report provides an action plan for companies on how to address business travel to make the company’s operations more sustainable.
1. Measure environmental impacts of travel.
2. Enable sustainable travel.
3. Encourage efficiency.
These are good points. From our Glue Team perspective, we would add – Leverage digital technologies and provide virtual collaboration tools for your employees.
By providing VR tools to your team, you can encourage home-office, eliminate commute or travel to other offices while providing great virtual communication that feels like face-to-face. VR collaboration platforms like Glue also provide you with collaboration tools that can make meetings efficient. With the use of VR, you can make your company operations more sustainable without sacrificing the productivity of your team.
